Araya
Araya Peninsula, in Sucre State, is on the other side of the sea in front of Cumana City. Playa Los Muertos is located on the Araya Peninsula, taking the road to Punta Araya, a town that is nearby.

La Península de Araya, en el estado Sucre, está al otro lado del mar, frente a la ciudad de Cumaná. Playa los Muertos se encuentra ubicada en la Península de Araya, tomando la carretera a Punta Araya, un poblado que está muy cerca.
How to get there / Como llegar
You can arrive by sea (in very flamboyant fishing boats that come out from the port of Cumana), by ferry from the same terminal, or land on a journey of 3 hours. From the road you can see Margarita, Coche and Cubagua. It's a mixed path, with plenty of vegetation and fruit plantations and the other is rough, with cactus, guinea pigs and goats.
Se puede llegar por mar (en peñeros muy pintorescos que salen al lado del puerto de Cumana); en ferry desde el mismo terminal, o por tierra en una travesía de 3 horas. Desde la carretera se divisan Margarita, Coche y Cubagua. Es un trayecto mixto, con una parte llena de vegetación y plantaciones de frutas y la otra es áspera, con cactus, curíes y chivos.

The wind: It enjoys a very good reputation in the world of windsurfers, because most of the year it has good breeze of 15 to 30 knots and in contrast has almost no waves, it is a deserted beach and without any barrier that blocks the wind beach. These characteristics are well suited to practice these sports. From November to May the winds are moderate to strong. But January and February are the windiest months.
The beach: The beach Los Muertos of Araya has a special charm, which is worth enjoying. It’s uncrowded, possibly because it doesn't have any service, but it is very crystalline, with white sands, very little waves and a special depth for the enjoyment of the smallest, with approximately 5 kilometers of coast to walk and to be delighted watching its beautiful landscape.
The climate: The climate is dry, semi-desert, with average temperatures of 27.5 °C and annual rainfall of less than 500 mm. It is important that you take everything you need.
El viento: Goza de muy buena reputación en el mundo de los que practican Windsurf, ya que durante casi todo el año tiene buena brisa de 15 a 30 nudos y en contraste casi no tiene olas, es una playa desierta y sin ninguna barrera que obstruya el viento. Estas son características muy adecuadas para llevar a cabo estos deportes. De noviembre a mayo los vientos son moderados a fuertes. Pero enero y febrero son los meses de más viento.
La playa: La playa Los Muertos de Araya tiene un encanto especial, que vale la pena disfrutar. Es muy poco concurrida, posiblemente porque no tiene ningún servicio, pero es muy cristalina, con arenas blancas, de muy poco oleaje y una profundidad especial para el disfrute de los más pequeños, con aproximadamente 5 kilómetros de costa para caminar y deleitarse observando su bello paisaje.
El clima: El clima es seco, semidesértico, con temperaturas medias de 27,5 °C y precipitaciones anuales de menos de 500 mm que sólo. Es importante que lleves todo lo necesario.
